Two adults are reportedly hospitalized and four children were treated at the scene of an accident between a sedan and a daycare van. According to Harris County police, the crash occurred around 2:08 p.m. on westbound Parramatta Lane on July 2. The sedan collided head-on with an All Star Day Care and Preschool van that was transporting several children.
According to reports, emergency responders took the driver of the van and another adult passenger to a local area hospital. All Star Day Care and Preschool staff have reported that the two victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. Four of the children were examined my EMS but did not suffer serious injury and another van arrived to return to the school.
The driver of the sedan reportedly claims he was experiencing tire problems as he approached a bend in the road which allegedly caused him to cross over into the oncoming lane. Police say the driver will be cited for failure to drive in a single lane.
Driver negligence is not always the cause of serious car accidents. Sometimes, manufacturer defects in car components such as defective tires, electrical systems, fuel and brake lines, and transmission components, can cause malfunctions that impair an otherwise responsible and alert driver’s ability to control his or her vehicle. In cases where a mechanical failure causes a crash, it may be the vehicle or tire manufacturer that is at fault for the damages.
