The L-1 Visa is open to international companies with offices in the United States who transfer employees to this country temporarily. This visa is also called "the intra-company transferee" visa. To be eligible for an L-1 Visa, you must have worked for the non-U.S. company at least a year within the past three years as an executive, manager or employee with specialized knowledge. This visa is available to the executives and managers or other personnel with specialized knowledge. Spouses and children can apply for an L-2 status and accompany you to the U.S., but they may not work. However, they may attend school or college.
