Terri H. shares her Reyes Browne Reilley experience with our Dallas, TX staff of professional car accident lawyers while helping her recover damages after being seriously injured in a rear-end car accident.
“Hi, I’m Terri. I was leaving one day from work, and it had been raining. I was actually practicing the correct way to drive in the rain so that I could pass that along to my daughter, as a reminder. I had stopped behind some young man, about a car and a half, and had glanced down to change the speed on my phone. I was listening to an audiobook, at a red light. All of sudden there was just a huge explosion, back window, it blew out. I just had no clue what had happened. I noticed I was moving forward, so I put both feet on my brake and I could see those boys in front of me. I was getting closer and closer, and then all of a sudden it was over and still couldn’t figure out what had happened.
Then the boys got out of their car and the truck that had hit me from behind, they got out, and I still sat there. I don’t know what took me so long, but finally I realized that it had been an accident. I was older and had never been in an accident before. They got me out of the car and we checked. I kept telling the boys in front of me that they needed to stay because there was debris all underneath their car. Actually, it was my car that the debris was from. The boys told me I had barely tapped them, that they had moved forward to keep from… They had seen the truck coming and had moved forward to keep from being hit.
They did not stay, so I didn’t have them as a witness. The person that hit me, I was consoling him as he feared for his job. It was just such a strange thing, but thankfully my car insurance kicked in rather quickly. They took care of getting me a car, having me taken care of, but I had injuries. They paid for as long as they could, for what I was insured for. Then the insurance for the other person, I kept thinking that they would start taking care of things. I would call them and they would call me back, and I would say, “I’m a teacher. Please do not call me from 8:30 until 3:30.” Every day they would call me back 1:00, 11:00, 2:00, but never during that time. Finally when I had some time off I called them back and I never could get a direct number to them.
One day when I was off, I called through their main line and reached the woman that I was supposed to be talking to. I got a hold of her finally and she said that they had closed my account. I said, “Well, you can’t do that. There was an injury.” I mean, they just kept leading me around, leading me around, and by this time it’s already been a year, a year and a half, and I have all these medical bills piling up and I don’t have any clue how I’m going to pay all this stuff. I’m paying here and paying there, using a credit card to pay part of this and using a credit card to pay part of that. Here my debt’s just going up and up. Finally, my mother says, “You’re going to have to do something.”
So I went to an attorney and they said that it was something that was not really what they did, but they were going to give me the name of someone that they thought was the best in the business. They sent me to Reyes Browne and Reilley, and everything since then has just been smooth. Most of the time everything’s been taken care of. I put my documents in through my phone, things have been done by cell, especially since I live far north from here and making the drive into the city. Everything has been so smooth. They took great care of me and been able to get my settlement. Now I should be able to take care of my medical bills and then be able to put some aside to take care of my medical in the future.“
