FDA Reports and Updates
Since the release of the Essure device, the FDA has received in excess of 5000 reports from doctors and patients of serious side effects, including at least 10 deaths. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced the requirement for Bayer (the manufacturer of the Essure device) to conduct clinical studies and potentially issue “black box” warnings after thousands of patients reported complaints of the Essure device. Device becomes expelled or migration occurs within the women’s body. Some reports have indicated the device may disappear within the body. Standard scanning methods show the device becomes undetectable.

Pharmaceutical giant Bayer said today it will halt sales of its controversial Essure birth-control device in the United States at the end of the year, bringing to a close a protracted battle over an implant that thousands of women blame for serious problems, including persistent pain and perforations of the uterus and fallopian tubes.
