Reckless, Distracted, or Aggressive Driving

We make distracted and aggressive drivers pay so you can reclaim your life

Reyes Browne Reilley Law Firm understands the horrific dangers that driving while intoxicated, while texting or while distracted in other ways, pose to people on the road.

Reckless, Distracted, or Aggressive Driving

In today’s world, many drivers seem carelessly or even blatantly to disregard the rules of the road each day often causing injury and even death to others randomly placed in their path. In fact, in Texas approximately 40% of traffic deaths, one of the highest rates in the country, were caused by drunk drivers in 2011. Equally as disturbing is according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, someone texting while driving a vehicle is six times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. The federal agency reported that sending or receiving a text takes a driver’s eyes from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds, the equivalent — when traveling at 55 mph — of driving the length of an entire football field while blindfolded.

Texting While Driving Accidents and Lawsuits On The Rise

Media attention pointing out the dangers of driving while intoxicated and texting while driving has increased greatly in recent years. Unfortunately, many people still disregard these dangers on a daily basis at the expense of other people’s safely. These people may say it is not uncommon to see a distracted driver on a mobile phone texting or talking, or it is not uncommon to see a distracted driver operating a computer or DVD player. Texting and distracted driving have become very common, but are not defensible after there has been a wreck.

While drunk driving and texting are two very common causes of catastrophic car accidents, there are many other common behaviors that can be classified as reckless driving. Exceeding the speed limit, failing to obey traffic signals and signs, and driving while fatigued, are just a few. The dangers of driving too fast for present weather or road conditions also are often overlooked.

Whether a driver is blatantly disregarding the law or driving while distracted, the results far too often are the same — injury or even death of innocent people. Victims need to know that if a reckless, aggressive, or negligent driver has harmed them, they have a legal right to claim damages and compensation.
