Forbes recently named the 13 models of mid-sized cars and SUV’s they believe provide the best protection for drivers and passengers.
The Acura MDX has a forward collision system that earned it a place on the list. The model is also a Top Safety Pick for its performance in crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Audi A4 and Q5’s were also placed among the safest cars, in part due to having similar features to the MDX.
Cadillac hits the list with the ATS and the SRX, both of which have also been found to have an excellent ability to avoid front-end collisions.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the Jeep Grand Cherokee also made it onto the list of safest vehicles in its category. Jeeps were originally designed for the U.S. military during World War Two.
The Lexus ES also made the list, and was also another Top Safety Pick from the IIHS. The Mazda 6 was another top choice for safety from Forbes.
Mercedes-Benz made the list with their C-Class model.
The Volvo S60 was named one of the safest mid-sized cars or SUV’s by Forbes, and the XC60 was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus.
Fans of Subaru will be delighted to hear the Legacy and Outback both made the list.
