The Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik just recently filed a lawsuit after her terrifying car accident in August of 2012. Rumors say she almost lost her hand, but Mayim has denied that claim.
According to Mayim, “I sustained significant injuries for which I am still recovering and will continue to be recovering.” She says although she’s not one hundred percent, she’s glad her face wasn’t torn open.
But that’s only part of the story. Just shortly after the accident, Mayim blogged about what actually happened, saying she was “lefty typing” because of the damage done to her right hand in the accident, which was just short of a head-on collision. She also said a man named Tim and another unknown man saved her from losing blood and helped her talk to her husband at the scene.
Here’s the part that could get sticky. Even though Mayim’s accident happened over a year ago, she’s just now filing a lawsuit against the other driver and Hertz Rent-a Car. Since she’s a celebrity, undoubtedly they’ll treat her case a little differently. But what about the rest of us everyday folks? The defense attorney may take issue with the fact that she waited so long and run with it, and will most likely try in Mayim’s case.
If you’ve had a serious auto accident, be sure to consult with an expert Dallas truck or auto accident attorney immediately – before you share with your ‘fans’ on a blog or social media such as Twitter and Facebook. It’s bad enough talking to the insurance company before consulting with a car accident attorney. The last thing you want is for the whole world to know what happened when certain details just might incriminate you unknowingly. Don’t think for a second that your ‘private’ Facebook posts are shielded from discovery in a lawsuit. Sharing any details about your auto accident is sharing too much. That information should be between you and your attorney.
For that matter, don’t even share the incident with family and friends before consulting with an attorney. They may misconstrue your story, or statements made while you’re still in shock from the incident could come back to haunt you and be detrimental to your case.
In short, the RIGHT thing to do after you’ve been in a car accident is to contact Dallas accident attorney at Reyes Browne Reilley immediately before speaking to anyone else other than the police on the scene. A quick phone call to 214-526-7900 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org will ensure that your legal rights are protected, and will greatly increase the possibility of a positive outcome as you get your life back on track.
