The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a statement earlier this week estimating that a total of 42,915 people have died in motor vehicle accidents in 2021. The NHTSA has implemented a series of initiatives to combat this sudden spike in fatalities alongside the policies implemented by the President. The increase in total fatalities compared to 2020 can be explained, in part, by the increase in drivers as society emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
