Many have heard of the famous Johnson and Johnson marketing slogan of “No more tears” and assumed it had been a message conveyed to no more crying. However, Johnson and Johnson have brought a lot of tears to consumers over the past three decades.

Since the 1980’s, Johnson and Johnson had been marketing their Shower to Shower and Baby Powder as a safe option to genital hygiene to a directly targeted audience of African American and Hispanic women in the south.

However, it was later discovered that Johnson and Johnson had a secret that they held close to their chest. Their ingredients in those specific products contained an ingredient called Talcum Powder. Talcum Powder has been deemed a possible carcinogen in itself. But in order to mine Talc, it also comes with levels of asbestos that are extremely difficult to extract and even detect as talc is a mineral found in close proximity to asbestos underground which contaminates the product.

Some question whether ovarian cancer is caused by genetically inherited mutations similar to breast cancer. However, that is not the case as only 10-15% of the 14,000 women that die every year have developed ovarian cancer in this form.

Approximately 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer are discovered every single year. It’s important to recognize the signs and symptoms early. 80% of the cases that get diagnosed every year are at advanced stages and have a high mortality rate.

Here are some symptoms that you should lookout for.

  • Bloating
  • Unexpected and sudden weight loss
  • Pelvic, abdominal, or back pain
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Feeling full quickly when eating light meals
  • Increased frequency of urination
  • Constipation

In order to protect yourself from any potential carcinogenic exposure, it’s important you should check your product’s labels thoroughly. Anything that may contain talc or asbestos should not be applied to your body. These products have been known to contain talc.

  • Johnson’s® Baby Powder
  • Shower to Shower Body Powder
  • Gold Bond Body Powder
  • Nivea Pure Talc
  • Estee Lauder body Powder
  • Summer’s Eve Body Powder
